The Representation of the European Commission in Romania will award this year for the first time, within the framework of Black Sea NGO Forum, the Black Sea NGO Award for Excellency.

 

The aim of the award is to enhance the profile of the Black Sea Synergy and its role in proposing a regional, cooperative approach in the region as well as the multilateral dimension of EU external policies.

The winner of the award will receive directly from ECR a grant amounting to 5,000 EUR.

Gender equality and the empowerment of women, the mainstreaming of gender perspectives in all Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and the challenges of international development cooperation will be the focus of the High-level Segment of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), to be held at UN Headquarters from 28 June to 2 July.

 

More than 700 participants representing governments, multilateral organizations, aid agencies, civil society, private sector and academia will discuss long-term commitments to improve and bring visibility to gender equality and the empowerment of women. They will promote international development cooperation and its coherence, accountability and effectiveness in support of the realization of the MDGs.

The Organization for Reform and Development in Educational System, ORDSE starts on July 1st the project Human Rights Education in Boarding Schools of Moldova. The project is supported by United States and Norwegian embassies.

 

About 60 form masters from boarding and community schools will be trained in organizing and delivering Human Rights sessions, 3000 pupils will be aware of HR issues as a result of peer-led workshops.

 

An Inter-school Contest on HR will be organized amongst Moldavian boarding schools at the project end in April 2011.

The third edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum is approaching. The traditional annual event will take place on 9-11 September in Constanta, Romania. Thus, for the first time the Forum the Black Sea will be present not only in the minds of the participants, but also in their sights.

This year the theme of the forum is “Investing in our common future”. The topics of the forum will include panels dedicated to Democracy and citizen participation, Economic Development and Corporate Social responsibility,

 

Youth movements and youth policies, Bridging Divided Communities, and Environment, as well as on tools for strengthening civil society.
